READ James F Koopman’s blog as a new dbPAL user, in ITtoolbox ..

“dbPAL makes it so easy to navigate and get what you want from it that I have no concern handing off the tool to upper management and developers alike. dbPAL truly makes expert modelers out of the most novices”

We specialize in providing database development, migration, logistics and data management solutions for ISV’s and corporate IT developers.

Solutions and Services, not just Products

PROVIDING SOLUTIONS
Many companies offering database and ETL toolkits do just that, sell products rather than solutions to problems.

The philosophy adopted by IT-Map over many years is first and foremost to listen intently to our customers, so as to gain a better understanding of exactly what it is that our customer is trying to achieve. This of course may be a simple need to make use of a product such as dbPAL for database development. More often though, there exists a compelling business case for productivity improvements or greater management controls.

As a company we have a very clear idea of our abilities as well as the corporate direction we are taking. It is always easy for a vendor to say ‘yes’ we can do a certain job, when in fact all that is being chased is another contract. Learning to say ‘no’ is far more difficult, but what it means in the long run is that we become better able to focus our abilities on the unique needs of our customers, as well as concentrating on enhancements and improvements to our software product set.

For that reason, our attention is focussed on two primary customer sets - namely the Independent Software Vendor and Corporate IT providers. Our work singles out the issues on the one hand of database design and development, and on the other the issues surrounding database implementations, ongoing change management and data migrations.

THE INFORMATION MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK
In the IT environment, resource shortage leads to a concentration of effort on the most needed projects, usually leaving older ad completed projects untouched. Before long a knowledge gap builds and older systems become more difficult to update and maintain. The Information Management framework is a strategic methodology that centers around the use of dbPAL, focussing on 4 core areas:

  • Cross platform database development
  • Change Management
  • Librarianship
  • Integrated Toolkits

IT-Map will help implement strategies in these 4 core competencies that can lead to substantial productivity improvement.

DATABASE LOGISTICS
The distribution and support of database applications to many thousands of users can become a massive problem in terms of the distribution of database schema changes. So to are the problems associated with data conversion when rolling out new applications to replace other 3rd party databases. IT-Map provides both product and service to help corporate IT and specifically ISV’s address this costly area.
